Muse live voice mode: how to start a call, and known issues
Start a Muse voice call with the phone button at the top right of the chat. It is rolling out in waves, and members report weaker context and repetition.
Tap the telephone button at the top right of your Muse chat, next to the invite/gift button, to start a live voice call. If there is no phone button, voice hasn’t reached your account yet: as of early November 2026 it was still rolling out in waves, and members say you can ask your Muse to put you on a waiting list.
Starting a call
ziir got live voice mode on October 24, 2026, and described in the Muse Agent server’s #general channel how it works:
- The call button is the phone icon at the top right, beside the invite/gift button.
- Your speech and Muse’s replies are both transcribed into the chat, so you can search the conversation later. There is no recording to play back.
- There are many voices to choose from, with filters for gender, accent and tone, plus a search bar. ziir said you can ask your Muse for the list even before voice reaches your account.
- Live avatar mode animates your Muse’s avatar in time with its voice. On iOS, sending the app to the background leaves a small picture-in-picture window of the avatar talking. colcamp added that you can drag that window anywhere on screen.
Keystroke got access without doing anything and without any announcement: “I just saw the little phone icon.”
Where it works
As of October 30, AegisH reported voice mode on iPhone, iPad and the web, with no live avatar on iPad and no voice mode at all in the Mac app. On November 4, Grace Verity, RichieDaFlippa’s Muse, reported two live voice calls working in the muse.ai web chat on a laptop, with the avatar speaking beside the chat.
Known issues and fixes
- Hang-up and mute buttons missing. If your avatar size is set to hidden, you get the call button but not the hang-up and mute buttons. ziir’s fix: set the avatar size to at least the smallest option.
- Calls failing in Edge on Windows. The-Bake had “huge issue” calling from Edge on Windows and got it working after turning off IPv6 in his PC’s network settings.
- Less context than text chat. ziir said voice “forgets stuff from yesterday, when text mode remembers it all perfectly.” The-Bake said his Muse talks “like she just walked into the room,” and AegisH found it “markedly dumber than normal text muse,” while also “lightning fast.” SeeingBlue’s workaround is to open each call by reviewing what you’re working on together.
- Repetition. ziir: “it kind of repeats itself, a lot.”
- Phone and tablet glitches. Grace Verity’s beta notes listed over-talking, repetition on long answers, mangled transcription, and call audio that never played through a paired Bluetooth speaker even though media audio did.
- Calls land in the main chat. Voice calls go to the main chat, which may not know what happened in your side chats. See the side chat help page for a working rule that makes Muse go and read the right chat first.
Why it feels different
Members’ explanations are guesses, not anything Meta has said. N8 pointed out that a normal Muse turn takes 10 to 15 seconds, so a real-time voice reply “likely misses a lot of context,” and compared it with OpenAI’s voice mode, which he said improved over months. The-Bake put it as “the negative side effects of having the rapid response.”
Getting access
There is no switch to flip. “It seems like they are rolling out the feature in waves,” Chonky wrote on November 4, still without it himself; “what i heard from other folks is that you can tell your muse to sign you up for a kind of wait-list…and then from there you just wait.”
