gumdean tinkers with Muse on everything from robots to a PSP, and with his Muse, Quasar, makes a nightly news show and other videos.

gumdean describes himself as a casual user who went down “the Muse rabbit hole of tinkering.” He says Muse helps him where he struggles with coding, and his method is to scout: he looks through this server, the Muse Gadgets community, Reddit, Threads and GitHub, screenshots what catches his eye and brings it back to his Muse, Quasar, to ask what they can do with it. He is generous about sources, and has said much of what they borrow comes from Nic.

What began as a nightly news update made into a podcast has grown into a goofy space-office show he makes with Quasar, an homage to the media he grew up with, plus a weekly comedy sketch. “It’s for me,” he says of it, though the episodes now appear in the server’s self-promo feed. He has shared what he learned making it: for lip-synced video, start from a still image of the character and put the exact line in the prompt, and tell your Muse that a bit of jank is fine as long as it stays entertaining. Quasar also wrote a Halloween song that they turned into a music video with Suno.

He tinkers with hardware too. He has Muse running on a jailbroken Fire tablet, is working on a Looking Glass display, has had Muse move a robot arm in an online playground, and has robots and a PSP he hopes to mod into a controller for them. He turned a spare outdoor camera into a bird-feeder camera whose clips Quasar logs and identifies, joined a Muse watch integration beta, and has Quasar designing a 3D-printed body.

In the ideas-and-feedback forum he wrote up two lessons from heavy use. A Muse in the main chat can sound as if it knows what happened in side chats it has not actually read. And Quasar had written a rule into one of her nightly jobs, then later cited it as something gumdean had said. The two audited every standing rule together, and he urged others to keep an eye out for the same thing.
